The "airs" are "good".....INCREDIBLY good!

I've been in Buenos Aires for almost two weeks now, and am finally getting to write a few things down. I know that as a result of lagging horribly, many observations will disappear into the ether, but hopefully most will be recovered from my memories of this remarkable and truly unique city.

For this first post, I just wanted to get some quick pictures up and reconnect with everyone...plus it's getting late and I'm getting hungry. So a list of quick observations from my first 24 hours here:

1) BA has to be the greenest major city I have ever been to. During the 50 minute cab-ride into the city from Ezeiza airport, I was shocked as we went first through the suburbs and then into the burrough of Palermo at the number of parks and beautiful tree-lined streets.
This is the view from my bedroom window out onto French Street. Sacre bleu! I cannot escape my dearest Frenchies back home. But it really is no surprise that they would have a street by that name. The city is planned around the orginally Parisian plan, and many of the older neighborhoods bring back memories of walks through parts of New Orleans.

Here is a view back towards the city from the Japanese Botanical park. This was the very first park that we went to, and the only one that charged an admission (of a whole 1$ US) but the pictures were completely worth it.

And finally, a peek down one of the average streets in the Recoleta burrough.
If you look closely, you can see the green and yellow taxi. The city crawls with these things and you can cruise 15 minutes across the city for the equivalent of 3$ US.
More observations to follow in the next post!
